Rick — Guitar, Drum, Ukulele and Percussion Teacher

Rick is a professional multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer based in Hornsby, on Sydney’s Upper North Shore. Music has been a lifelong calling for him, bringing over 18 years of experience as a musician and educator, backed by a Bachelor in Creative Industries and a Diploma in Sound Production. He has written hundreds of original pieces across his career, spanning styles from orchestral death metal to classical fingerstyle, and runs his own music studio, Sydney Guitar & World Percussion, where he teaches 13 instruments to students of all ages and skill levels.

Rick’s specialty lies in guitar and world percussion, teaching everything from guitar, drums, bass, and ukulele to instruments like darbuka, djembe, bongos, handpan, cajon, riq, frame drum, tombak, and shakers. Every lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, whether that’s building technique, exploring songwriting and improvisation, or preparing performance-ready repertoire. He takes the time to understand what each student needs to progress, helping them get there with both ease and joy.

Because Rick is an active working musician, he brings real, practical experience into every lesson rather than teaching purely from theory, giving students the chance to learn from someone who is still composing, performing, and producing professionally today. Beyond one-on-one lessons, his studio also offers mixing, mastering, composition, session work, sound healing, and production masterclasses, giving students the confidence to grow from a basic strum all the way to placing their music in media for sync licensing.
