Oliver — Percussion, Piano, Logic Pro, Composition & Theory Teacher
Oliver is a Scotland-born percussionist, pianist and composer now based in Sydney. With 20+ years’ teaching experience, he teaches percussion and drum kit, plus piano, composition, music theory, and Logic Pro for students who want to perform, create, or produce.
He was a founding member of the percussion duo O Duo, performing internationally in major venues and festivals, with concerto appearances including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He was also a featured artist at the BBC Proms, performed in the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony on stage with Dame Evelyn Glennie, and toured as guest percussionist with Disney’s The Lion King (2019–2022).
On the education side, Oliver held a six-year visiting professorship at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and co-led Children’s Classic Concerts in Glasgow for 10 years, creating concerts and workshops for families in partnership with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
His work has been described as “exhilarating” (Daily Telegraph) and he’s recognised as a “talented… communicator” with extensive experience teaching children and adults alike (Drake Music Scotland).
