Mike is a Sydney-based cello teacher who began learning the cello at the age of 5 and has built a strong foundation in classical music through years of dedicated study and performance. Progressing through AMEB up to Grade 7, Mike developed solid technical skills, musical discipline, and a deep understanding of the instrument from an early stage.

Throughout high school, Mike continued refining his musicianship and achieved Band 6 in both Music 2 and Music Extension, with a focus on double bass performance. Alongside formal study, he was actively involved in orchestras and ensembles, gaining valuable experience in ensemble playing, collaboration, and live performance.

In addition to cello and double bass, Mike also plays electric bass, giving him exposure to a wider range of musical styles beyond classical music. This broader instrumental background allows him to teach with a well-rounded and adaptable approach, supporting students across different genres, goals, and experience levels.

I’ve been learning electric bass with Mike, and it’s been a great experience. He explains techniques in a really clear and simple way, which made it much easier for me to pick things up as a beginner.
