Luka — Saxophone & Piano Teacher

Luka is a Surry-Hills and Kogarah-based saxophone and piano teacher, and the founder of Sydney Music Lessons. With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Neuroscience, his teaching is built around how people actually learn: attention, muscle memory, habit formation, and the small technical adjustments that create consistent improvement.

Luka keeps students clear on what to practise, how to practise it, and why it works — so progress isn’t left to guesswork. He focuses on developing reliable fundamentals (tone, technique, timing, reading, and musicality) and teaching how to progress and learn pieces as fast and efficiently as possible. 

During his pursuit of the AMusA, Luka studied with experienced saxophone educators, including Melinda Atkins (teacher of internationally recognised saxophonist Amy Dickson). He brings that same emphasis on detail and musical understanding into every lesson.

Luka teaches kids, teens, and adults, and draws on 10+ years of private tutoring experience to keep lessons motivating and outcome-driven. Every AMEB exam his students have taken has resulted in an A (Pass with Honours), or A+ (High Distinction). He offers flexible scheduling and can travel to students’ homes for lessons. First lesson is free, and he’ll often run slightly over time when it helps a student finish on a strong note.
