Craig — Drums, Percussion & Music Theory Teacher

Craig is a conservatorium-trained freelance drummer and educator with 30 years of playing and teaching experience. His lessons are built around clear, easy-to-understand “systems” that help students make fast, logical progress — whether you’re starting from scratch or refining advanced skills. Craig focuses on strong fundamentals, including reading, rudiments, time feel, technique, and musicality, with a practical pathway that makes complex concepts simple.

He teaches a wide range of styles, including rock, funk, jazz, Latin, big band, and concert band/orchestral playing, and he tailors each lesson to the student’s goals — from building confidence and groove, to developing improvisation, stylistic vocabulary, and performance readiness.

Craig has taught at the University of New South Wales (2015), the Australian Institute of Music (2002), and Jazz Workshop Australia (2017–2021), as well as privately in his own studio and through private tuition for decades. Craig also has extensive experience preparing students for HSC music performance, Conservatorium and university auditions, and AMEB exams, with a calm, structured approach that keeps students motivated and improving consistently.
