Ameya is a passionate piano tutor based in Sydney with over seven years of piano playing experience and experience teaching more than 10 students. Originally from Kenya, where she lived and taught students, her international background has shaped a welcoming and adaptable teaching style. She is currently working towards Grade 8 ABRSM Piano and has performed at the Kenya Conservatory of Music through concerts and ensembles. She enjoys teaching children, teenagers and adults, particularly beginners and advanced beginners across classical, pop and contemporary styles.
With a patient, optimistic and encouraging approach, Ameya enjoys helping students build confidence while developing strong musical foundations. She is especially comfortable working with nervous students and children who are just starting their musical journey, creating a supportive environment where students can learn without feeling pressured. Her teaching is structured and well planned while remaining flexible to each student’s goals, personality, interests and learning style. She also provides ABRSM exam preparation, including theory, and has supported students preparing for entry tests and ABRSM Grade 1 Piano.
For Ameya, music is more than simply learning an instrument. It is a way to express yourself, build confidence and take a break from everyday life, and she loves sharing that experience with her students. She adapts her teaching to suit different personalities and musical interests, helping students enjoy the process while making steady progress. Whether a student wants to learn their favourite songs, explore classical music, prepare for an examination or simply discover the joy of playing piano, Ameya aims to make their musical journey positive, enjoyable and rewarding.
