Josh — Drums & Theory Teacher
Josh is currently in his final year of a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at JMC, and is an active gigging and session drummer performing with a range of local artists, including Julienne Harvey (alternative gothic pop), Phoenix Beazley(indie funk surf pop rock), Jayden St. Joel (hip hop/pop), and Sapphire (grunge). This ongoing performance experience keeps him deeply connected to the current music scene and gives his teaching a real world, practical edge.
As a drummer, Josh plays across a wide range of genres, feeling most at home in pop, rock, funk, and hip hop, while also being more than comfortable and capable of teaching jazz, metal, and blues. This versatility allows him to connect with students who have all kinds of musical interests, rather than limiting lessons to a single style.
As a teacher, Josh tailors every lesson to the individual student, whether they simply want to learn songs for fun, are just starting out as a beginner, or are focused on strengthening their fundamentals. Previous students have described him as patient, kind, and fun, reflecting a teaching style that is approachable and encouraging while still helping students genuinely improve and grow as musicians.
