Jacob — Cello & Music Theory Teacher

Jacob is a Sydney-based cellist, composer, and teacher with over three years of teaching experience. He began learning cello at seven, developing his musicianship through the AMEB syllabus before attending Moriah College on a music scholarship, where he served as principal cellist of the Sinfonia and Symphony Orchestras. He has performed with the Sydney Youth Orchestra Philharmonic, competed in the Strike A Chord National Chamber Music Championship, and was selected for an international concert tour to the United States and Israel.

Jacob completed his Certificate of Performance in Cello (CMusA) with High Distinction under Rosalind Graham, and achieved Band 6 in both Music 2 and Music Extension, ranking first in his cohort for Music Extension. His original string quartet, Fall in a Daydream, was performed at the Sydney Opera House as the only Music 2 core composition featured that year. He was offered a place at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music but chose to study Information Systems (Data Science) and Business at UTS, while continuing to perform, compose, and teach.

Jacob teaches children, teenagers, adults, and seniors, tailoring lessons to each student’s goals and experience. Whether preparing for AMEB exams, auditions, or performances, or learning for enjoyment, he focuses on building strong technique, confidence, and expressive playing.
