Nick is an experienced vocal teacher with a strong background in opera and choral performance. He studied voice at the Melba Conservatorium in Melbourne under Bettine McCaughan, and later at the Australian National University School of Music with renowned baritone Ron McConaughey. After moving to Sydney to pursue voice full-time, he joined Opera Australia, where he performed as part of the chorus for nearly a decade, working under internationally recognised directors and conductors. He continues to perform with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs.
His teaching is grounded in this extensive performance and training background, with a strong focus on building a solid technical foundation, musical understanding, and confident performance ability. Lessons are tailored to each student, balancing technique, repertoire, and interpretation while keeping the process engaging and enjoyable. Nicholas works with students across all levels, from complete beginners through to advanced singers, and prepares students for exams, performances, and Eisteddfods.
In addition to singing, Nicholas also teaches piano, cello, and music theory for beginners to intermediate students. He is comfortable working across both classical and contemporary styles, and has experience performing in English, German, Italian, and French, making him well-suited for students interested in developing both their technical skill and broader musicality.
