Alan Marcio is a dedicated flute specialist with over 25 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor level qualification in flute from the Colchester Institute of Music. Having spent the past decade teaching online, he has developed effective methods for helping students around the world improve their technique, confidence and musical expression from home. His extensive experience includes supporting adult learners returning to music, beginners discovering the flute, and experienced musicians preparing for auditions, bands and orchestras. His specialist knowledge allows him to guide students towards developing a beautiful tone, confident technique and a deeper understanding of their instrument.

Alan’s teaching philosophy centres on making music enjoyable, personal and goal oriented. Whether students are interested in classical repertoire, jazz improvisation or popular music, he adapts his approach to their individual interests and abilities. His structured learning pathway covers five progressive modules, from beginner to advanced level, focusing on tone, technique and musicality. He incorporates breathing, articulation, intonation, sight reading and improvisation into lessons, helping students build strong foundations while developing their own musical identity.
